HOW TO AUDITION
Please click on the role you are most interested in for more details on how to audition.
Although I will be looking for the best actor for the role, applying early will give an advantage. ALL ROLES ARE EXPENSES ONLY.
-
Playing age: 16-25
Required Languages: English
Gender: Ideally transfeminine, we would also consider a nonbinary actor and a transmasculine actor. If you are not trans, do not audition for this role.
Estimated days required: 4-5
Email cathyraineyfilm@outlook.com and tell me why you think you are right for the role, listing any relevant experience. Also, include the location you will be travelling from, and state your availability between the 1st and 20th of August (including any exceptions).
It is highly encouraged to submit a self-tape of both these short scenes: Tei Audition
Technical Instructions: Keep your camera still and shoot landscape. Use a frame that goes from your waist to just over the top of your head, (a medium shot). A live reader for the role for both Enica and Angwyn if preferred but not essential. Being off book is also preferred, but not essential.
Acting style: Like the visual style, the acting style is heightened to blend live action with animation. Keep the emotion real, but think about small motions you would naturally make and expand them into actions. Exaggerate your tension states and gesticulate to emphasise where you deem appropriate. Alternate takes are welcome.

If you are a reenactor who has access to their own replica costume/amour, and fancy having a go at acting, welcome!
There are two sets of people you may be interested in, Iceni, and Roman Legionaries/Auxiliaries. There is minimal to no spoken dialogue from these characters.
The Romans:
Gender: Male
Days on set: 1
This film is set in 350 after Magnentius began his mission to become Emperor of Rome. Many Romans stationed in Britannia joined him (this lack of Roman presence eventually led to The Great Conspiracy in 367). However, in this fiction, the disgraced Centurion Vitanus has been bribing men with better living conditions and greater pay. He has accumulated between 60-100 men. Although 70% of Roman soldiers were Auxiliaries in Britannia at this time, these soldiers could be Auxiliaries or Legionaries, or a mixture. In an effort to be accurate, I would prefer the look of the 4th Century mail + oval shield, but since Vitanus has been fighting since at least the Boudican revolt in 60 AD, if you want to be involved and have 1st, 2nd, or 3rd-century replica amour, it is feasible that Vitanus, because of his supernatural age and renegade status, would order older amour to be forged, out of an opinion it is more suitable for battle.
More details here.
The Ecen (Iceni):
Gender: Any
Days on set: 1
The Ecen wore multi-coloured checkered clothes, Gold, Silver or Electrum (green) jewellery, such as rings and torcs. More details here.
If either of these seems appealing, please get in touch! Also, include the location you will be travelling from, and state your availability between the 1st and 20th of August (including any exceptions)
